This Saturday the Runnin’ Rattlers traveled to Seguin to race in the Matador Invitational hosted by Seguin High School. The Rattlers had their best team showing yet with 23 of the 28 runners running their best times ever on a 5k course.
The first team up was the Varsity Girls team. This is the first weekend and varsity girls team as been run and they looked impressive being led by Sophomore Arabella Snook and her 23:13 5k time. Miranda Urbizu (23:41), Isabel Rodriguez (24:20), Maddison Teague (27:04) and Anahi Pichardo (29:01) finished out the top 5 for the varsity girls. The Varsity boys were led by Juniors Anthony Lopez (15:45) and Shaun Haley (17:05). Competing on varsity as well were Seniors Carlos Hernandez (18:03), Whitaker Reid (17:48), Noah Olvera (20:15), Junior Travis Rounds (17:48) and the Freshman Dylan Martinez (19:19). The varsity boys took 9th place out of 18 teams in a very strong competitive race.
The Junior Varsity team completed the same course as the varsity teams and looked just as strong as the varsity teams. The J.V. girls were led by Junior Aly Baker (23:03) and Cassidy Woods (26:01), while the J.V. boys were led by new comer Tristen Summers (Soph- 18:37) and Freshman Levi Soto (20:26).

Next week the teams will compete in the District Championship on Friday, October 6th, at Walter E. Long Park in Austin, Texas.
