Multiple Teams · Rattlers Have Positive Showing in Cedar Creek Tournament

The Rattler basketball teams participated in the Cedar Creek Classic Tournament this past Thursday – Saturday.  All levels demonstrated positives throughout their tournament run.

The Rattlers took 6th place in the varsity division.  After dropping their first day games to Crockett, 44-60 and A&M Consolidated, 43-67, the Rattlers showed resiliency on day two.  The Rattlers won both of their games on Friday.  They beat Kingwood Park with a buzzer beating half court shot by senior, Pablo Rios IV, 38-36.  In their second game on Friday, the Rattlers showed a ton of toughness against the host team, Cedar Creek.  The Rattlers won that game, 60-57.  On Saturday, the Rattlers took on Elgin.  Despite playing well in a back and forth game, the Rattlers were unable to hold on to a fourth quarter lead and missed another half court heave that could of won the game.  The Rattlers fell, 48-50.

The Junior Varsity Rattlers won their first two games on Friday which sent them to the Championship Game on Saturday where the Rattlers fell short to the Westwood Warriors.  The Rattlers took home 2nd place in the JV Division.

The Freshmen Rattler team split their games on Thursday and played for third place on Saturday where they played very well and won.  The Rattlers took 3rd place in the Freshmen Division.

Overall, the tournament was a positive experience for all three levels.  The coaching staff is proud of all the teams for their performance and hope these experiences will create some momentum moving forward.
