Runnin Rattlers Rise to the Challenge

Cross Country Booster Club Meeting

The Runnin’ Rattler Booster Club will hold a meeting on Tuesday, August 16th. The meeting will begin at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the High School in the Student Athletic Center (SAC) meeting room. The San Marcos Cross Country team will be working out at different locations around San Marcos this week. Workouts are open to any student in SMCISD. All Practices start at 7 A.M. 2016 Summer Cross Country

Summer training for the 2016 cross country season will begin on Monday, June 13th at 7 A.M. We will meet at the little league baseball fields at Rio Vista park for the first group run of the summer. 

NFL Character Building Initiative

Our athletic program is built on one concept, build positive character in our athletes and our teams will prosper which in turn will make for a positive school and community culture.  The state of Texas has recognized our efforts.  Our athletic director, Mark Soto, was invited to a NFL sponsored Character Building Initiative on Tuesday February 16th.

At the annual cross country banquet, 8 athletes were honored with perpetual plaques. Cross Country Academic All-State

Five Cross Country Senior were awarded Academic All-State by the THSCA this past fall. Receiving 2nd Team All- State were senior Laura Rivas and Kristi Turnini. Receiving 1st Team was senior Itzel Osornia. And Receiving the highest honor of Elite Academic All-State was senior Joe Merchant.

Cross Country State Qualifier

Junior Eddie Hernandez placed 8th overall at the Region IV cross country championships, and qualified for the State cross country meet next weekend in Round Rock. Eddie covered the 5K course in 17:02.
