Powerlifting Teams Shine at State Meets

The girls and boys powerlifting teams competed at their respected state meets over the past two weeks. The girls team of Maegen Delgado, Jenna, Gonzales, Kaitlyn Jackson, and Raelee Reyes finished 9th. All four had their best meet of the year while setting many personal records. Four Girls Qualify for State Powerlifting

This past Friday, Tyra Brown, Maegen Delgado, Jenna Gonzales, Cassie Hernandez, Kaitlyn Jackson, Gabby Ramirez, Raelee Reyes, and Shaanti Rivas participated in the THSWPA Division 1 Region 2 Powerlifting Meet.  All eight girls competed hard.  Raelee Reyes finished 1st in the 97 lbs weight class, Jenna Gonzales finished 4th in the 114 lbs weight class,

Eight Girls Qualify for Regionals

Congratulations to Gabby Ramirez, Raelee Reyes, Jenna Gonzales, Cassie Hernandez, Shaanti Rivas, Maegen Delgado, Kaitlyn Jackson, and Tyra Brown for qualifying for the 2017 Region 2 Division 1 Powerlifting Meet.  They will be competing at the regional meet next Friday in Del Valle.  Good Luck girls.

Rattler Powerlifting Starts Strong

Navarro Meet Results On Saturday at Navarro High School the 2017 San Marcos Rattler Powerlifting season began.  Fifteen lifters competed against seven school, many for the first time.  Nearly every lifter achieved a new personal best.  This was a great starting point for these young Rattlers.

Powerlifting Practice Time Change

Powerlifting practice on Monday (1/2) and Tuesday (1/3) will be 4:15-5:15pm. Normal practice times will resume Wednesday.

Rattler Powerlifting Begins Practice

Rattler Powerlifting practice begins Tuesday, November 15.  Practices are either before school (6:30am-7:30am) or after school (4:15pm-5:15pm).  Physicals must be turned in to Doc before practice begins.

Powerlifting T-Shirts for Sale

The powerlifting team is taking orders for 2016 SMHS Powerlifting t-shirts.  The shirts will have all the lifters names and regional and state qualifiers on the back.  If you are interested, please turn in the order form and payment to Coach Davis or Coach Valdez by Tuesday, March 8.

NFL Character Building Initiative

Our athletic program is built on one concept, build positive character in our athletes and our teams will prosper which in turn will make for a positive school and community culture.  The state of Texas has recognized our efforts.  Our athletic director, Mark Soto, was invited to a NFL sponsored Character Building Initiative on Tuesday February 16th.
